This past weekend I had the incredible privilege to capture a wedding I have been looking forward to for a long, long time. Almost as long as Mike and Siobhan themselves! I first got to know Mike and Siobhan when they first moved to Greenville and watched as they got closer, bought a house together, got a dog together, got engaged, got another dog together, and then started to plan their wedding at the Bald Head Island Shoals Club. You may also recognize Mike and Siobhan, as they were our “newly engaged couple” during our wedding photography workshops we held earlier this year.
We arrived at Bald Head Island a couple days early so we could celebrate with them during the pre-wedding festivities. Between hanging out with some of our best friends, meeting some new ones, enjoying plenty of great food and drinks, having late night bonfires on the beach, and enjoying the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets that come along with Bald Head Island living, it was an incredible way to kick off the wedding weekend. While the setting is definitely gorgeous, Bald Head Island isn’t just another pretty place to Mike and Siobhan, it’s a huge part of their history together. They originally met on the beach while on vacation there a little over 5 years ago, got engaged there last year, and have since spent many weekends vacationing there.
After years of anticipation, the wedding day was finally upon us. We showed up early to get some shots of Siobhan getting into her dress before heading over to the Bald Head Island Shoals Club to capture their first look. After venturing out onto the beach to grab a few bridal party shots, it was time for their ceremony. Plenty of tears, beautiful scenery, and hilarious moments gave way to a picturesque sunset just before their reception kicked off. Together with plenty of thoughtful details, the Shoals Club looked absolutely stunning and gave the perfect backdrop for guests to enjoy a beautiful indoor/outdoor reception overlooking the ocean. A few thoughtful speeches, some pretty intense Irish dancing (that was a first!), and plenty of great food and drinks lead us to their glow stick exit and golf-cart-roadster getaway. Enjoy the photos!
Mike & Siobhan – Thank you for not only having us there to document your wedding, but also being such incredible friends to us. After getting to meet your extended family and friends, it was only more apparent that you aren’t just both incredibly talented and successful, but also incredibly thoughtful and caring to everyone you come in contact with. We wish you all the best in your marriage and hope these images remind you of all the anticipation, excitement, and pure joy you felt at your wedding.
