The last few weeks have been really special for me. It’s like all the hard work I’ve been putting into my businesses and personal life have really been paying off. It all culminated at the National Association of Catering and Events Awards ceremony held in Greenville, SC on November 3rd, 2016. You see, months before we were nominated for the photographer of the year award they hand out each year. Along with six other photographers from North and South Carolina, we were nominated for this huge honor.
And… Well… It became a reality just a few nights ago!
My favorite thing about the whole thing was that I was sitting around a table surrounded by several other very talented photographers, all who were nominated for the same award. Rather than being competitive and talking smack about each other, we all just had a blast enjoying each other’s company and the fact that we were even nominated. It was a blur as I got several huge hugs from everyone at the table when they surprisingly called my name, and I’m pretty sure the same would have happened no matter who got the award in the end. That’s the best thing about the photography community, we are all so supportive of each other and have such a respect for what everyone else does, no matter their style.
I have to say, it’s an incredible honor to be trusted to capture so many weddings for so many incredible people. Even after 10 years, it’s something I don’t take lightly and, I’m amazed every day I get to wake up and capture those split second moments that say so much about the love people have for each other.
Cheers!
