Just this past weekend I had the incredible honor to have 8 very talented wedding photographers from throughout the southeast over to our home studio to teach the art and business of wedding photography. We had such a diverse group, from people that had only been shooting a year or so, to seasoned photographers with 20+ years of experience. We had some people from right here in Greenville to people coming all the way from Atlanta and as far as Washington DC. What was amazing to me was how well everyone bonded together, made friends and shared their unique angle on photography. We covered everything from shooting the “getting ready” portion of the day, all the way through the reception, and talked about everything from workflow to marketing to pricing and everything in between. My head is still swimming trying to figure out how we crammed all this into both days.
One of my favorite portions of the workshop was our live shoot with a newly engaged couple. Although I’m good friends with Mike and Siobhan, I’ve never really photographed them before, and I wanted to show how to shoot a REAL couple, not one I’ve already shot before and DEFINITELY not a bunch of professional models like a lot of workshops incorporate. That’s just cheating in my opinion. We started off shooting just before sunset showing some of the techniques we talked about in the class and then headed downtown to finish up with a few night shots and grab some dinner afterwards. Such an awesome, jammed packed weekend, and so many great memories and photos to show for it. Can’t wait to do it again soon!
Thanks to everyone that traveled so far to come to the workshop! It was a complete honor! I will post up information on my for photographers section as soon as I have information about the next time I’ll be holding it!
